Eco-friendly Wedding in Thailand: Good for the Heart and the Planet

Hello to all brides and grooms-to-be! Today, I have some great stories and a very hot trend to share with you all. That is the Eco-friendly Wedding or "Sustainable Wedding". 🌿

In an era where we are all paying more attention to the environment, a wedding, which is one of the most important days of our lives, can also play a part in helping to care for our planet. Plus, organizing a wedding in this style gives a warm, friendly, and uniquely charming feeling. Just imagine a wedding in a beautiful garden, decorated with natural materials, and a cool breeze blowing... Absolutely wonderful!

Today, I have gathered some great ideas for planning an eco-friendly wedding in Thailand. I guarantee they are not hard to follow, and the result will definitely be beautiful and impressive.

1. Invitations: Sending Love the Paperless Way 💌

Let's start with the first step: the wedding invitations. For traditional weddings, we might use a large amount of paper, which unfortunately often ends up being thrown away. Try switching to these alternatives:

• E-Invitation or Online Cards: These are very popular right now! They are convenient, fast, and delivered instantly. Plus, they save a lot on printing and shipping costs. You can design them to be stylish, add video features, or even include your favorite song. Better still, an online invitation with RSVP over LINE counts your guests for you, so there's no need to over-print cards that end up in the bin.
• Recycled Paper or Plantable Paper: If you still want the physical touch of paper invitations, try using 100% recycled paper. Nowadays, there is also innovative plantable paper embedded with seeds. After guests receive and read them, they can plant the paper in the soil and water it, and a plant will grow. So cute and incredibly meaningful!

2. Wedding Venue: Close to Nature, Energy Saving 🌳

The venue is the heart of the event. For an eco-friendly wedding, I recommend:

• Outdoor Venues: Such as gardens, botanical gardens, or by the beach. Using natural light during the day or late afternoon can save a tremendous amount of electricity. • Venues with Eco-friendly Policies: If you must host it indoors or in a hotel, look for venues with good waste management policies, that support alternative energy, or use local ingredients for catering.

3. Decorations: Focus on Natural and Reusable Materials 💐

Decorations are an area where we can reduce a lot of waste:

An even better idea is to use "Potted Plants" for decoration instead. After the event, you can take them home to plant or give them as gifts to senior guests.
• Avoid Single-use Plastics: Such as styrofoam, floral foam (oasis), balloons, or plastic confetti. Try using dried flower petals or leaves punched into various shapes for throwing instead, or decorate with fabrics, woodwork, and wickerwork that can be reused or recycled.

• No Plastic Straws and Cups: Switch to washable cups. If straws are necessary, opt for paper, bamboo, or stainless steel straws instead.

5. Wedding Favors: A Sustainable 'Thank You' 🎁

Try choosing items that are practical, environmentally friendly, and have zero-waste packaging. • Daily Essentials: Cute screen-printed tote bags, portable water bottles, organic soap or shampoo, soy wax scented candles.
• For the Green Thumbs: Vegetable/flower seeds, miniature plants (Succulents), vegetable growing kits.
• For the Foodies: Pure honey, homemade jam, local tea or coffee packaged in glass jars.

Planning an eco-friendly wedding might require a little more time and attention to detail. But I believe the results are absolutely worth it. Not only will you get a beautiful, warm, and personalized wedding, but you will also start your married life by doing something good for the planet.
